Lessons learned from a failed interview?

1) Set hypocrisy aside

Let's be honest: how often have you gone into interviews trying to be someone else because you believed it was what the company wanted?

The fact that you are trying to fit a position that is not a good fit for your skills will be obvious to interviewers because they are not that foolish.

Lesson to learn : Be authentic.

2) Ignore the resume

Nobody is interested in your excellent marks from writing excellent essays in school or your years of letter writing for student publications.

Yes, cover letters and resumes are important, but an interview is not the time for them to reveal your personality. Interviews are designed to help with this since employers want to get to know the person behind the resume. Your character and morals will be key factors in getting the job.

Lesson to learn: Be the best version of yourself.

3) Set Ironman aside

"What is your biggest weakness?" Once heard, it becomes the sound that freezes your head.

Therefore, don't rush to give a quick "I don't have any flaws" response. What counts to an employer is that you are aware that you have them and have the patience to develop them into your strengths.

Lesson to learn: Be sincere.

4) Stop pretending that you are perfect because you are not.

Interview failures teach you that perfection has no boundaries. You become aware of the qualities employers seek in candidates and discover the information and abilities necessary for your success in the future.

Never be hesitant to ask the interviewer for comments, even after being turned down. Understanding what went wrong, where you fell short, and what you need to focus on will help you prevent such mistakes in the future. After all, it doesn't hurt to inquire!

Lesson to learn: Be real.

Note : No matter the outcome, every experience is valuable, so don't take it personally and instead use unsuccessful job interviews as a learning opportunity to make sure you don't make the same mistakes again.
